Pasha Khoshkebari
Student at the University of Waterloo
I'm Pasha Khoshkebari, a student at the University of Waterloo. Growing up, I watched a lot of students struggle in subjects like math, not because they couldn't do it, but because they didn't have access to the one-on-one support they needed.
Hiring a tutor is expensive. Kids can feel embarrassed asking for help. And most tutors only cover certain subjects, so families end up rotating through different people year after year.
I think an AI tutor, done right, could fix all three problems. HOPE is my attempt to figure out what "done right" actually means.
Right now I'm spending time talking with parents, tutors, and educators to understand what's actually hard about supporting a student's learning. I'd rather build the right thing slowly than the wrong thing fast.
The idea
A tutor that teaches concepts, not one that just gives answers. The goal is for students to actually learn the material, gain confidence, and become more independent learners over time.
A homework-completion tool. A replacement for parents being involved in their kid's education. A generic AI chatbot like the ones in the news.
Right now
Talking to families. I'm running 20-minute conversations with parents about what's actually hard, what they've tried, and what they wish existed.
If you're a parent of a student in grade 5 through university and you'd be open to a chat, I'd love to hear from you. No pitch, just learning.
If you're a tutor, teacher, or someone with a perspective on this, I'd love to hear from you too.
If you're open to a 20-minute conversation about tutoring, learning, or what families actually need, reach out and I'll follow up.
